Josh Shot First

Indeed George Lucas has stirred the Star Wars fan pot again. In Star Wars Han Solo, the beloved smuggler and scruffy looking nerfherder, is confronted by Greedo, a green odd looking bounty hunter.  Now, in the original movie Han Solo shoots Greedo because… You know… He doesn’t want to die or be captured. A perfect homage to “The good the bad and the ugly” and really set the tone for the character of Han Solo. Years later George Lucas releases the Special Edition of Star Wars. Now, for some reason George Lucas think that Han Solo wouldn’t be a good role model for the kids or something, and re-edits the scene so Greedo, for some reason shoots Han first and Han shoots back in self defence, while also performing some lighning speed seatshifting to dodge Greedo’s shot. Sounds awesome, but… Well… It just looks silly. ( If you look at the link, start by the 2:30 mark to see what I am talking about 🙂 )

So Star Wars fans weren’t very happy about the changes and it became quite controversial. But everyone pretty much just figured they’d leave it alone. Until quite recently when George Lucas claims that Greedo is the one who always shot first, and blaming it on that he just doesn’t know how to edit movies (well pretty much). I personally think that the whole thing with “Greedo always shot first” is just George trolling the SW-fans and make sure he’s still getting publicity. Why? After so many years? Well because he has produced a new movie called Red Tails and thinks that somehow this would get more publicity for the movie.

Now, I can understand that George Lucas can do whatever he wants with his movies. They are his. But he really should know when to leave things alone! Imagine if every director who ever made a movie did this. Every 5-10 years just re-release the same movie but with changes to plot and visuals. It would bug the shit out of you.

So yeah I was planning on having Han Solo in the last frame aiming his blaster at George buuuuuuut I figured it would be fun to have Josh do it instead, and the joke didn’t really work if I’d switch characters around. So I am sticking with Josh being a bad ass for once 🙂

All in all this was supposed to be be a short quick comic but it took way longer than I expected just because I wanted to get the blaster, Lucas and the background right. But it was all worth it in the end 🙂

Oh yeah a “Gazillion”  is a phrase from “No Right Answer” that I usually watch 🙂 You guys should definetly check that out.

Well that’s it for now. I am at a LAN party at the moment so I am going to enjoy playing some Jedi Outcast or Jedi Academy I think 🙂 But you guys have fun and I will see you again soon!

I’ve noticed some spelling errors, so I will fix those once I am home…. Yeah  :p

It’s in Arboga. It’s a shame it wasn’t the same. That would have been awesome 🙂 We’ve just finished playing some Quake 3 Arena. Going old school! 🙂
