Midsummer Panic
It’s that time again! Swedish Midsummer is upon us! If you’ve ever been in Sweden this time of year, you know it’s a big deal. Like, flower crowns, maypoles, singing songs about frogs while dancing in a big circle… I know – It’s kinda weird when you think about it too much.
It’s basically the unofficial start of summer so it’s one of the most important holidays of the year for a lot of Swedes.
Tradition says you should be out in the countryside, eating pickled herring, strawberries, and potatoes, with a cold drink in hand and the sun basically refusing to set. There’s a kind of magic to it—even if you’re not into tradition, there are really good vibes.
Me? I’m keeping it simple this year. No maypole dancing for me. Just planning to relax, hang out with the fam, and maybe not look at a screen for once.
So wherever you are in the world—whether you’re clinking glasses out in the sunshine or just enjoying the good vibes— hope you get a little peace this weekend. And if you do the frog dance, I’m personally making you an honorary Swede.
Glad Midsommar, my dudes! ☀️🍓
